Warnings

Never look directly at the sun, as this can cause serious damage to your eyes.

Preparing to Use Your Binoculars

1. Adjusting the Eyecups

The eyecups ensure that your eyes are at the correct distance from the eyepieces.

  • For eyeglass wearers: fold the eyecups inward.

  • For non-eyeglass wearers: keep the eyecups extended outward.

If the distance between your eyes and the eyepieces is not optimal, you won’t be able to see the full field of view properly, and adjusting your interpupillary distance will be more difficult.

2. Adjusting the Interpupillary Distance

Everyone’s eyes have different distances between pupils. To adjust the interpupillary distance, simply rotate the two halves of the binoculars inward or outward until a perfect circle is formed.

  • You should not see any dark spots or half-moons at the edges or in the center of the image.

  • While viewing through both eyes without moving the binoculars, you should see a full, round image.

  • Focus on an object at a moderate distance to make it easier to adjust the interpupillary distance accurately.

3. Adjusting the Diopter

The diopter adjustment compensates for differences in vision between your two eyes.

  • For example, if your left eye is -2 and your right eye is -4, the diopter ring balances this difference.

Steps to adjust the diopter:

  1. Unlock the diopter ring. The ring is greased with special grease that hardens over time to prevent accidental rotation. Apply some force while turning the ring to loosen it.

  2. Close your right eye and focus your left eye on a distant object using the central focus wheel.

  3. Close your left eye and adjust the diopter ring (located behind the right eyepiece) until the right eye is in focus.

Once the diopter is set, it usually does not need to be changed again.

4. Re-focusing

Use only the central focus wheel to adjust focus for objects at different distances.

5. 1/4-Inch Tripod Mount

The binoculars feature a 1/4-inch threaded hole and can be attached to a tripod using a binocular adapter.

Maintenance

  • Use the included soft, non-abrasive cloth to remove dirt, dust, and oil from the lenses.

  • If sand or grit is on the lenses, remove it gently with a soft brush before wiping with the cloth.

  • For eyeglasses and lenses, use a special cleaning solution to remove fingerprints and oily residues.

  • Store the binoculars in the carrying case and use the included lens caps if available.

  • Protect the binoculars from cold temperatures, as condensation may form on the exterior, and moving parts may freeze. In cold weather, it is recommended to keep the binoculars under a jacket to maintain body temperature.

  • Do not disassemble the binoculars.

  • Do not drop the binoculars. Shocks or impacts can cause damage not covered by the warranty.
